SKILLS TRAINING FOR AFP WOUNDED SOLDIERS

September 1,2016

TESDA NCR Regional Director Nenuca E. Tangonan together with selected TESDA officers based in Quezon City visited the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center in V. Luna Avenue, Quezon City on September 1, 2016. The visit is in support of President Duterte’s message to injured soldiers of providing them training for employment. A training needs survey was discussed and floated during the visit just like the survey questionnaires used in the Barangay Skills Mapping Survey for the “Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan” project.

The skills mapping survey did not only cover the wounded soldiers but also included their dependents and/or family members who are interested to avail of free skills training as proposed by the wounded soldier-beneficiaries. TESDA shall coordinate with the concerned TESDA Regional Offices and/or TESDA Technology Institutions for prospective beneficiaries intending to be trained elsewhere i.e. their hometowns or provinces where they reside. TESDA-NCR on the otherhand will design training programs for wounded soldiers wanting to be trained in the AFP Medical Center depending on the outcomes of the training needs survey using Mobile Training modality and/or refer those to nearby Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) with registered programs that have scholarship allocations within Quezon City.

This initiative is in support of TVET for Social Equity Strategy in Poverty Reduction enunciated by TESDA Director General Guiling A. Mamondiong to help rehabiliate our wournded soldiers to the mainstrem of society.
